Wikipedia[]
First of all I notice that this list is very similar to the Wikipedia's List of vegans, and reading the talk page on there tells me that most people listed there probably aren't vegan (and some probably aren't even vegetarian). Also, what's the point in having a list of famous vegetarians mixed in with vegans? This isn't an advocacy site for vegetarianism. I'm very much in favour of a list of famous vegans, but it will need to be better fact-checked than the Wikipedia's list to be of any use.--Holizz 12:52, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comments. Most of the entries are backed up with a reference, I will try to include a reference for them all. If there is any question of anyone's veganism, well this is a wiki, and it can be discussed. I think it is important to have this list here. Knowledge of famous vegans and vegetarians can inspire others, and shows people what veggies are capable of (especially the athletes section). There is a similar list on Wikipedia, but it is from a NPOV where as this is from the VPOV so less susceptible to hostile edits or requests from deletion (which it has been several times). I also included a section for links to other lists.
- As far a including vegetarians goes, the line between a vegan and a vegetarian can be pretty blurry, as well most vegetarians have experimented with veganism at some point in their life, and many switch in between the two.

Dave Scott[]
I included Dave Scott in the list under vegetarians. There is a rumor that he has started eating fish again, and occasionally even turkey (I assume once a year at Thanksgiving...), I'm not sure if he has switch back again or what his present state is (maybe he'll edit this page and comment :) ). But I think he is relevant for this list as he is included to show what veggies can achieve, and he was vegetarian at the time of his back to back Ironman championships, and that is all that is relevant.
